Oil Mist Detector

About the product

A compact series of Oil Mist detectors for 4-stroke engines.

Working principle

The MEV283 series devices are compact oil mist detectors (OMD) for monitoring 4-stroke diesel engines. They are available in different versions and are characterized by long-term use and easy installation on the crankcase ventilation system.
The units can be supplied with redundant 24V to meet the need for independent battery and mains supply for the classifications. To operate the system, a "motor-running" signal can be used as an input from the motor side.
The device monitors the actual oil mist concentration and the crankcase pressure. For each of the two measured values, a galvanically isolated analog signal output of 4 ... 20 mA is available. For connection to a monitoring and safety system, the detector has relays for the operating states Ready, Pre-alarm, Pressure alarm and Main alarm. In addition, there is a configurable reserve relay. Ethernet or CAN bus interfaces can be used for data exchange of operating data and operating parameters.
The CANopen and J1939 protocols are supported.

The product range is approved by all relevant classification societies for maritime use.

MEV282 is the predecessor to MEV 283 and is sold as a spare part.
